No results
No institutions match your search. Try another name, code or alias.
The list is the same catalog the server validates against: it is fetched from GET /v1/public/banks every time this page is generated, so it cannot go stale. It is updated weekly from the official Banxico lists.
When it is needed
- When registering a phone (DiMo) beneficiary: the number alone does not identify the institution, so
bank_codeis mandatory in the body. For a CLABE or a card it is derived from the prefix or the BIN, and whatever you send is ignored. See Create, update and export beneficiaries. - When validating a transfer: the
emisorandreceptorfields accept either the code or the bank name."emisor": "40012"and"emisor": "BBVA MEXICO"are equivalent. See Validate a SPEI transfer. - When reading a response:
bank_codeandbank_namecome already resolved by the server, so you rarely need to look them up here — this list is for the other direction, when you are the one sending them.
The aliases
Many institutions show up under more than one name in receipts. The catalog keeps those aliases and the server resolves them to the same code: bancomer and BBVA MEXICO both land on 40012. That is why the search above also looks at the aliases — if you have a name taken from a receipt and do not know which code it maps to, type it as it is.
Fetching it from the API
The same list is served at GET /v1/public/banks, with no authentication. It responds with an ETag, so you can cache it and revalidate with If-None-Match instead of downloading the whole thing every time.
If what you have is a receipt
A bank code identifies the institution; it does not tell you whether the payment happened. The official receipt Banxico issues for every SPEI transfer does: what it is, where to download it and what it proves are in the guide to the Banxico CEP.
If what you need is to check the receipt someone sent you before handing over an order, the page for small businesses covers that case. The other guides and the glossary of terms live in Resources.
